Understanding Timestamps #
Timestamps are specific time frames within your video clips that indicate which parts of the footage you want to use. They help editors identify the exact segments to include in the final edit. Here’s how they typically look:
- File name_1 | 03:00-07:05
- File name_2 | 01:43-04:46
- File name_3 | full clip
If you intend to use the entire footage from start to finish, simply note that in the “Media Footage Timestamps” section when submitting your order.
Do You Need to Submit Timestamps? #
While it’s not mandatory to submit timestamps, providing them can significantly streamline the editing process. Here’s why:
- Efficiency: By indicating your preferred segments, you reduce the need for revisions, as your editor will have a clear understanding of your expectations from the start.
- Faster Turnaround: Supplying timestamps, along with any scripts, notes, or a rough video structure, helps your editor work more efficiently, leading to quicker completion times.
Default Editing Practices #
- Automatic Edits: By default, stutters, sentence retakes, and pauses are removed. However, if there are specific elements you want cut out, communicate these preferences to your editor.
Providing clear guidance through timestamps or other instructions can enhance the editing process, ensuring your videos are completed swiftly and align with your vision.
